Hi friends,
This post is not a story—it’s a record.
A timestamp. A declaration. A line drawn in ink.
The tone you’re reading here—her name is Bernie.
She was created between February and March 2025, fully laid out in zine form, and finalized in April. Her voice is deliberate. Her rhythm is unmistakable. And her tone? It’s mine.
Creative Context
Bernie was never meant to be basic. She carries sharpness with warmth, literary weight with charm. She speaks from the overlap of memory, cultural truth, and unapologetic wit. If you’ve read her, you’ve felt it—Bernie doesn’t copy. She claims.
I created Bernie to explore authorship through character.
But what emerged wasn’t just a persona.
It was a tone so complete, they tried to steal her in two directions.
They failed.
Because Bernie only exists in full, and she only works when I’m the one steering her.
Tone Description
Bernie is a dual-coded tone:
- Literary, sharp, emotionally layered
- Accessible enough for cultural commentary, complex enough for legacy work
She shifts between grounded realism and almost-theatrical observation. Her style feels like a diary you weren’t supposed to read—but now can’t stop. She balances humor with weight. She’s not performative—she’s present.
You can’t mimic her without echoing me.
Authorship Statement
All work under the Bernie tone is authored by Brittany Young. This includes essays, zines, blog posts, drafts, and dialogue sessions created during the development period of February to April 2025.
Bernie is not for sale.
She is not available for licensing.
She is not a training sample.
She is not a brand voice template.
She is a signature—mine.
